Salary: £25,780 pa

Are you passionate about making a difference and keen to start a career in health and safety? We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our Health & Safety and Property Team as an Apprentice Safety, Health and Environment Technician. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience and a nationally recognised qualification while supporting the effective management of health and safety risks across Epping Forest.  

 

What You’ll Do  

 

  • Assist in compiling and analysing data on accidents, incidents, and near misses.  

  • Support incident investigations and help identify root causes and corrective actions.  

  • Maintain and update health and safety records, including risk and COSHH assessments.  

  • Contribute to the development and review of health and safety policies and procedures.  

  • Participate in departmental meetings and the Health & Safety Improvement Group.  

  • Support contractor safety checks and monitor compliance.  

  • Help coordinate training requirements and maintain training records.  

  • Promote health, safety, and wellbeing information across the organisation.  

  • Draft content for newsletters and internal communications.  

  • Support the administration of health and safety systems and periodic equipment inspections.  

  • Assist with the management of equipment assessments and training matrices.  

 

What You’ll Gain  

 

  • A solid understanding of health and safety legislation, including the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.  

  • Experience in incident investigation, risk assessment, and contractor management.  

  • Skills in IT systems for document management and data analysis.  

  • Exposure to health and safety practices in forestry, conservation, agriculture, and property management.  

  • The opportunity to shadow experienced professionals and participate in site inspections and audits.  

  • On successful completion, eligibility for Technical Membership of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (Tech IOSH).

This apprenticeship role is based at Epping Forest and will last for 30 months (including time to complete your End Point Assessment).

To qualify for this apprenticeship, you will need to be: 

  

•             16 or over by the end of the summer holidays 

•             Living in England 

•             Not in full-time education at the time of applying 

              

If you are a non-UK citizen – you need to have permission from the UK government to live in the UK (not for educational purposes) and have been ordinarily resident in the UK for at least the previous three years before the start of the apprenticeship. 

 

Selected apprenticeships require evidence of English and Maths GCSE Grade C/4 or equivalent.
