Senior Policy Officer – Industrial Relations
Are you an experienced HR professional passionate about industrial relations and policy development? The City of London Corporation invites applications for the role of Senior Policy Officer – Industrial Relations to help foster constructive dialogue and collaboration across our organisation.
What You'll Do:

Develop and maintain strong, effective relationships with recognised Trade Unions and Employee Representatives.

Lead meaningful, inclusive consultation activities—both formal and informal—ensuring compliance with corporate and legislative standards.

Support the consistent application and development of HR policies aligned with evolving corporate and legal requirements.
-
Provide expert advice and interpretation of HR policies and employment law to managers and HR teams, enabling informed decisions.

Act as the main contact for Trade Unions and Employee Representatives when the Head of Policy and Industrial Relations is unavailable.

Stay up to date with changes in employment law and industrial relations, advising on potential impacts.

Plan and lead regular meetings with Trade Unions, managing agendas, briefing materials, and records.

Coordinate organisational initiatives requiring consultation and engagement with Trade Unions.

Assist in drafting and implementing HR policies based on consultation feedback and legal developments.

Promote a positive and inclusive workplace culture, supporting City of London’s Equal Opportunity and Health and Safety policies.
What We’re Looking For:

Associate Member (Level 5) of CIPD or equivalent qualification/experience.

Continuous professional development in employment law, employee relations, or HR policy development.
-
Relevant degree or equivalent experience in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, or related fields.
-
Proven experience working with Trade Unions and Employee Representatives in HR or policy roles.
-
Experience coordinating consultation processes and contributing to HR policy development.

Strong knowledge of UK employment law and industrial relations frameworks.
-
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to prepare clear reports and consultation materials.

Collaborative approach working across HR and organisational teams.
