Salary: £57,240 - £64,610  inclusive of London Weighting + £6,000 Market Force Supplement 
Contractual Hours: 35 hours 

Basis: Permanent

Are you a proactive and technically skilled IT leader, ready to take responsibility for critical infrastructure and end-user systems across a dynamic and diverse organisation?

 

The City of London Corporation is seeking two IT Operations Team Leaders to join our Digital, Information & Technology Service (DITS) team. These roles will be the lead officers and technical managers responsible for the delivery, support and continuous improvement of key IT Operations services and systems for both the City of London Corporation and the City of London Police.

 

Reporting to the IT Operations Manager, you will manage and develop operational IT teams, ensuring high-performing, resilient, and cost-effective infrastructure and systems services. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring broad technical expertise, strong project management capabilities, and a customer-first mindset.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Lead the delivery and continuous improvement of core IT infrastructure and end-user systems, ensuring resilience, performance, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Manage and develop a skilled IT Operations team, overseeing recruitment, training, performance, and resource planning in line with corporate policy.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on IT infrastructure, operations, and service delivery best practices.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define requirements and implement reliable, well-documented solutions aligned to organisational needs.
  • Assist with planning and delivery of complex infrastructure and system projects, coordinating with internal and external partners.
  • Ensure services meet SLAs, OLAs, and all relevant legislation, including Data Protection, Health and Safety, and IT security standards.

 

About You

 

You’ll bring a strong mix of technical and leadership experience, with:

  • Proven experience managing IT operations or infrastructure services in a complex organisation.
  • In-depth knowledge of infrastructure technologies and end-user systems, including system architecture, networks, security, and application delivery.
  • Excellent analytical, planning, and communication skills, with a collaborative approach to working with stakeholders.
  • A strong understanding of ITIL, change control, and service management processes.
  • A track record of delivering service improvements and managing operational risk.
  • Experience in the public sector or emergency services environments is desirable but not essential.

Due to the nature of the work, all DITS staff undertake Managed Vetting (MV) and Security Clearance (SC).  Successful completion of both vetting procedures is conditional to receiving a permanent offer of employment.
