HR Business Support Officer x2 (one role is an FTC for six 12 month)

Are you a highly organised, proactive administrator with a passion for people and process? The City of London Corporation is seeking an HR Business Support Officer to provide professional, confidential, and high-quality administrative support to our dynamic Human Resources department. 

 

This is an exciting opportunity to join our People & HR team at the historic Guildhall. You’ll be instrumental in ensuring our HR function operates efficiently, supporting both day-to-day operations and strategic projects that help us deliver world-class service across the organisation. 

 

What You’ll Be Doing 

 

  • Act as the first point of contact for HR-related administrative enquiries. 

  • Manage office essentials, from stationery to post and refreshments. 

  • Maintain HR systems and inboxes, ensuring timely and professional communication. 

  • Coordinate onboarding and offboarding processes in collaboration with HR colleagues. 

  • Provide confidential support to HR Senior Leadership including document preparation and meeting coordination. 

  • Assist in delivering projects and recruitment campaigns and provide mentoring support to our HR Apprentice. 

  • Continuously seek improvements to HR procedures and administrative processes. 

  • Support the wider HR team through cross-coverage during absences and peaks in workload. 

  • Purchase and order goods and services for the Department using the CBIS iProcurement (AP) System, ensuring timely processing and accurate record-keeping.  

  • Assist in the interrogation of GL to extract financial information. Running Budgetary Control, Transaction and Commitment Reports.  

  • Processing of invoices externally and internally for sections within the HR and People department.  

  • Liaise with suppliers and internal contacts on financial matters.

We’re looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment. The ideal candidate will have: 

 

  • Strong administrative experience, ideally within a HR or corporate setting. 

  • Excellent communication skills and a high level of professionalism. 

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise workload effectively. 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and confidence working with internal systems. 

  • A collaborative mindset and willingness to support continuous improvement.
