Salary: £57,240 - £64,610 per annum inclusive of all allowances.In addition, this post also attracts a Market Forces Supplement of up to £8,000 per annum. The Market Forces Supplement is discretionary and may be withdrawn, reduced or increased during the future.

Shape the Skyline of Our City – Join Our Building Control Team
Are you an experienced Building Control professional ready to take on a varied and challenging role in a dynamic city environment? We're looking for a Group Building Control Officer to join one of our three multi-disciplinary teams, where you'll support a diverse portfolio of complex and non-complex building projects.
As part of our high-performing Building Control service, you’ll help ensure safety, compliance, and quality across a defined geographical area. You’ll also play a key role in client engagement, mentoring junior staff, and contributing to our technical and strategic development.
Key Responsibilities
- Vetting plans and technical documents to ensure compliance with Building Regulations
- Providing expert compliance reviews to developers, architects, and contractors throughout project lifecycles
- Conducting site inspections, commissioning tests, and issuing Completion Certificates
- Participating in enforcement processes and ensuring accurate record-keeping
- Leading in specialist areas such as structural or fire engineering
- Supporting junior team members and contributing to training and development
- Participating in dangerous structure response and incident planning
- Engaging in marketing initiatives to promote the District Surveyor’s Office
- Collaborating with internal departments and external agencies
What We’re Looking For
Qualifications and Knowledge:
- Degree or equivalent in a construction-related discipline
- Registered Class 3 Registered Building Inspector (RBI)
- Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., MRICS, MIStructE, CABE, CIBSE)
- In-depth knowledge of Building Regulations and associated legislation for large and complex projects
- Specialist expertise in an area such as fire safety, structural engineering, or cladding systems
Experience:
- Proven experience in Building Control across a range of project types
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Experience liaising with clients and stakeholders in a competitive, customer-focused environment
- Skilled in applying and interpreting relevant legislation and developing technical procedures
- Experience in mentoring junior staff and leading aspects of complex projects
- Knowledge of relevant Acts including Section 30 of the London Building Acts and Marriage Act licensing
