Title: Facilities Services Operative Apprentice (15 Months)

The City of London Corporation is a unique local authority which has responsibility for many of London’s historic and recognisable buildings. As a member of the Facilities Management (Operations) Team you will be directly involved in keeping these spaces safe, operational and enjoyable for the many people who visit or work in them.
This is a great opportunity for a FM Apprentice to join a diverse team and play an active role in a department that oversees the servicing and repair of the building services and plant, work that makes a real difference in maintaining our status as custodians and the face of London to the world.
What You’ll Be Doing:
The role of FM Apprentice is broad and will involve, but not be limited to:

Working alongside experienced professionals within the Operations Team but throughout the Corporation to give you a breadth of experience and understanding of workplace facilities

Be involved in management of contractors across all building services

Support major project works with our colleagues in City Surveyors

Utilise technology to improve efficiency and identify best practise

Ensuring our properties remain legally compliant

Working with across the Corporation and its external stakeholders

Play an active role in resolving issues
Who We’re Looking For
This role is for someone starting their career or looking to make a change from a previous industry. You will have an interest in working with people and a passion for making peoples experiences better through great facilities

Able to demonstrate success in an educational capacity. Minimum expectancy of GSCE in English and Maths (or equivalent)

Resilient and able to communicate effectively with a variety of people

Good problem-solving skills and collaborative mindset

Proactive to learning and willing to work independently wherever you feel competent
No previous experience is required but a great attitude is a must.

This apprenticeship role is based at Barbican and GSMD and will last for 15 months (including time to complete your End Point Assessment).

To qualify for this apprenticeship, you will need to be:
• 16 or over by the end of the summer holidays
• Living in England
• Not in full-time education at the time of applying
If you are a non-UK citizen – you need to have permission from the UK government to live in
the UK (not for educational purposes) and have been ordinarily resident in the UK for at least the previous three years before the start of the apprenticeship.
Selected apprenticeships require evidence of English and Maths GCSE Grade C/5 or equivalent.
