We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to lead the communication of our arts and learning programming in the fields of theatre and dance, and creative collaboration. Reporting to the Senior Communications Manager – Arts Programming, and a managing small team of Communications Officer and Assistant, it will be your role to develop and deliver creative audience-focused communications campaigns to showcase everything the Barbican has to offer across your artform and support audience development.
The primary focus of the role is on press and media and you will have direct responsibility for proactive and reactive media handling – driving positive preview, listings and review coverage and expertly spotting potential risks and handling crises. You’ll also work seamlessly with our marketing and digital teams to ensure communications strategies, campaigns and tactics are fully integrated across all channels. And you’ll build strong relationships with key stakeholders within your artform including our resident and associate companies, producers, record labels, agents, artists, curators and performers.
Our ideal candidates will be confident working directly with media and a range of stakeholders. You will have demonstrable experience of objective setting and evaluation, and using results to further refine and improve communications plans. You’ll also be a dynamic and committed team player, and a confident and diplomatic communicator. A passion for the arts is important, and experience and knowledge of the artform you are interested in would be a clear advantage.
