Salary: £68,300 - £77,400 per annum inclusive of all allowances. In addition, this post also attracts a Market Forces Supplement of up to £24,000 per annum.

The City of London Corporation is seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Enterprise Architecture to lead the development and delivery of enterprise business solutions across the City of London Corporation, its Institutions, and the City of London Police. 

 

This is a senior leadership role with responsibility for shaping and maintaining enterprise architecture practice and that supports organisational priorities, delivers business benefit, and aligns with the overarching Corporate Plan and Technology strategy.  The postholder will play a key role in driving simplification, standardisation, reuse, and innovation across the complex and diverse environments that encompasses the City of London. 

 

About the role 

 

You will lead the Enterprise Architecture and Solutions function, ensuring that business solutions are designed in line with architectural guardrails and principles, aligning with industry best practice and UK Government guidelines and policy. Working closely with internal stakeholders, partner organisations, and third-party suppliers, you will ensure technology solutions meet business requirements, outcomes and deliver value for money. 

 

You will also be responsible for developing and managing a high-performing architectural services team, setting technical standards, influencing strategic direction, and supporting financial and commercial decision making within IT and the wider organisation. 

 

Key responsibilities 

  • Lead the development and maintenance of enterprise architecture across the City of London Corporation, its Institutions and the City of London Police 

  • Ensure business solutions align with architectural guardrails, principles, technical standards, and reference architectures across all technology domains 

  • Maintain Business Architecture, Information Architecture and Technology Architecture models for the organisation 

  • Drive technology innovation by identifying and exploiting emerging technologies 

  • Act as the technical authority for architecture and solution design and architecture governance forums 

  • Lead and manage the Enterprise Architecture Practice, Architecture Services and Architecture Solutions team, including resourcing, architecture governance and professional development and mentorship 

  • Work collaboratively and build relationships with senior stakeholders, members, directorates, partners, and suppliers to deliver effective and compliant strategies and solutions 

  • Support IT financial management, including budget oversight, consumption and supplier costs 

  • Maintain the technology / digital strategy and digital roadmap for the organisation 

  • Ensure alignment with the latest developments in AI, Agentic processes, AI integration methods and Large/Small Language Model management, data compliance and AI privacy architectures 

  • Ensure data and information integration methods and architectures are maintained.  

  • Have influencing input into enterprise wide data models are maintained, working closely with the Data Architecture function  

  • Ensure compliance with government security standards, data protection, legislation, and public sector best practice 

 

About you 

 

You will be a highly experienced IT enterprise architecture professional with strong leadership skills and a proven track record of operating in complex organisations on both the private and public sector.  You will bring deep, broad technical knowledge, excellent stakeholder management skills, and the ability to translate business needs into robust, m technical solutions and strategies. 

 

You will have: 

  • Minimum 10 years experience in Enterprise Architecture across medium to large scale Private and Public sector environments 

  • TOGAF qualification 

  • ITIL and/or PRINCE2 & Agile qualifications, with substantial practical experience 

  • Significant experience in enterprise software and infrastructure architecture design 

  • Experience leading technology/digital strategy and architectural roadmaps 

  • Strong understanding of public sector IT environments and controls 

  • Strong Microsoft Azure and SaaS, PaaS and IaaS domain architecture experience, Platform Engineering, DevOps and DevSecOps best practices 

  • Experience managing suppliers, budgets, and resources 

  • Excellent communication and customer engagement skills 

  • Ability to go through UK Government Police Security Vetting (NPPV Level 3)
