About Us

The City of London Corporation is the governing body of the Square Mile, dedicated to supporting a vibrant and thriving City, and a diverse, sustainable London within a globally successful UK. Our City Business and Investment Unit (CBIU), launched in June 2025, is a proactive business service designed to attract, retain, and grow investment in the City through concierge-style support for both new and existing occupiers. We work closely with the Destination City Hub and five established Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) to deliver growth and connect communities across the Square Mile.

The Role

This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the City of London. As CBIU Engagement Officer, you will assist in engagement with the City’s BIDs and partnerships, supporting coordination between BID-led projects and City Corporation programmes. You’ll represent the City Corporation on steering groups, and support the delivery of high-quality relationship management with property owners, investors, businesses, and other stakeholders.

You’ll be instrumental in aligning BID visions and strategies with City Corporation policies, maintaining an overview of projects and programmes, and ensuring excellent communication and shared purpose across teams. The role also involves attending board meetings, supporting the work of the CBIU and Destination City Unit. Flexibility to attend events and meetings outside normal working hours is required.

About You

You will have:

  • Demonstrable experience in developing and initiating strategies, stakeholder consultation, and project delivery.

  • A track record of exceptional stakeholder engagement, providing outstanding service to SMEs and key partners.

  • Experience in proactive stakeholder management and effective communication with a diverse range of individuals and organisations.

  • Extensive experience in planning and executing high-profile events, including complex travel and diary management.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with proven ability to draft reports, briefings, correspondence, and presentations, and to negotiate successfully with professionals, senior officers, and key stakeholders.

  • Ability to present at formal and informal meetings, work collaboratively across departments, and manage projects and personal workload to meet deadlines.

  • IT literacy, including competence in Microsoft Office and databases.

  • An inclusive and flexible working approach, with experience using workforce data to inform management action and improvements.

Because our roles are so varied, we don’t have a ‘one size fits all’ policy for workplace attendance. How many days a week you’ll be required to attend your workplace will depend on the requirements of your role. It’s important that you understand the requirements before applying to ensure you are able to meet them. We are committed to considering requests to work flexibly and job share. Requests will be considered by the recruiting manager in line with our policies and business needs.

For more information on our categories for workplace attendance, please view our guide here.

We will be reviewing this policy and approach at regular intervals to ensure we’re meeting our attendance needs.

The City of London Corporation is currently undergoing a programme to ensure that our pay and reward practices are competitive and equitable across the whole organisation, to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to thrive in the work that we do.
