We are the City of Decisions That Matter
Personal Assistant and Member Services Officer
The City of London Corporation is the City of opportunities, diversity, social impact and commercial influence. Our work touches lives not just in the Square Mile or even in London, but across the UK and beyond. The work we do is a catalyst for economic and social progress and you could play an important part.
As one of three Personal Assistant and Member Services Officers, you’ll provide wide-ranging, proactive support to Members of the City of London Corporation. You’ll support activities on behalf of our Members – from the ongoing training and development that enables them to do the best possible job for local residents, businesses and visitors, through to supporting their participation in a variety of important meetings. What’s more, you will provide personal assistance and administrative support to senior elected Members of the Court of Common Council where required, in support of your colleagues. This will range from managing diaries and confidential files, to arranging meetings and travel, to acting as a first point of contact and handling enquiries by phone, email, official correspondence and face-to-face.
We are looking for a candidate who has experience in supporting multiple primaries within a similar or comparable organisation, who can assist those individuals, and the wider Team, in the delivery of their own priorities, in line with the City of London Corporation’s Corporate Plan and wider strategic ambitions.
To join us you’ll need demonstrable administrative experience, supporting a senior manager or leader and/or experience in the development and delivery of learning and development programmes within a similar setting. You’re highly organised yet flexible, with plenty of initiative. Your IT skills span the Microsoft Office suite and other administrative systems. Crucially, you’re an excellent communicator – whether producing minutes, briefings and correspondence, or liaising with, advising and inspiring confidence in senior people from a range of backgrounds.
When it comes to valuing our people, we have one key goal: to be an excellent employer. We offer a wide range of development opportunities in this most diverse and challenging of organisations. In addition to a competitive salary and membership of the excellent Local Government Pension Scheme, you can look forward to an all-round package of life-improving benefits and offers – from interest-free season ticket and bicycle loans to discounts on health and wellbeing, arts and culture.
The City of London Corporation is currently undergoing a programme to ensure that our pay and reward practices are competitive and equitable across the whole organisation, to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to thrive in the work that we do.
Closing date: 23:59 on 23 March 2026
Interviews will be held on 1 April 2026 (provisionally)

Because our roles are so varied, we don’t have a ‘one size fits all’ policy for workplace attendance. How many days a week you’ll be required to attend your workplace will depend on the requirements of your role. It’s important that you understand the requirements before applying to ensure you are able to meet them. We are committed to considering requests to work flexibly and job share. Requests will be considered by the recruiting manager in line with our policies and business needs.
For more information on our categories for workplace attendance, please view our guide here.
We will be reviewing this policy and approach at regular intervals to ensure we’re meeting our attendance needs.
