About us

The City of London Corporation is the City of opportunities, ideas and diversity. We’re an organisation that makes a contribution totally out of scale with our size. You could see your efforts not just make life better for people in London but across the country and even overseas. We’re the organisation that will surprise you.

The role

The role is all about delivering high-quality governance advice and committee management support for our key committees. You’ll do this as a senior member of the Committee and Member Services Team, taking on a varied and challenging workload that helps the Corporation operate as efficiently as possible.

Managing your own team, you’ll be responsible for supporting one or more of our senior committees. This includes providing impartial advice, acting as a key point of contact for committees and drafting briefings on governance and other complex issues.

On top of this, you’ll play a key role in developing our Governance and Members' Support Service and refining our decision-making abilities as an organisation. You’ll build strong working relationships with our senior leaders and help deliver structured learning programmes as part of your support.

About you

We’re looking for inspiring leaders with significant experience running committees in similar organisations. Ideally, you’ll have management experience, but experience in areas such as writing reports, building relationships, advising members and working with senior leaders is essential.

With sound political awareness, you should have a good understanding of complex committee processes and be able to confidently interpret them. Skills in communication, negotiation, stakeholder management, project management and IT systems are crucial to success in the role.

A relevant undergraduate degree or the equivalent experience is essential.

The City of London Corporation is currently undergoing a programme to ensure that our pay and reward practices are competitive and equitable across the whole organisation, to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to thrive in the work that we do.

Because our roles are so varied, we don’t have a ‘one size fits all’ policy for workplace attendance. How many days a week you’ll be required to attend your workplace will depend on the requirements of your role. It’s important that you understand the requirements before applying to ensure you are able to meet them. We are committed to considering requests to work flexibly and job share. Requests will be considered by the recruiting manager in line with our policies and business needs.

For more information on our categories for workplace attendance, please view our guide here.

We will be reviewing this policy and approach at regular intervals to ensure we’re meeting our attendance needs.
